Encouragement for Kingdom Leaders

Author of Life

Growing up, my parents made a decision to get rid of the family TV for nearly a decade. To fill that vacuum, this socially-awkward guy went to the library and fell in love with reading – and to this day, it is one of my top 3 things to do. Yep… nerdy.

A few weeks ago, I took a break from non-fiction and stared a series of novels by David Baldacci; David rocks. David always takes his readers on an emotional roller coaster ride – unexpected turns, bumps, and often on the edge of my nerdy-seat trying to figure out what was going to happen to me, err… my favorite character. What I know thru experience, is that despite the literary crap-storm that David Baldacci puts me in, I can always trust David to finish the book series even better than I had originally expected.

Like all of you, I am walking through something that is “less than fun” in a certain area of life… two weeks ago, I was reading Acts 3 where Peter and John had been used by God to heal a crippled man, to then get harassed by the religious elite of the day. Peter did not cower in the face of the “woke mob”, but spoke truth in love.

Like with a Baldacci book, I was captured in the scene and emotions; then verse 15 really jumped out… it reads: “You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.” “Author of Life”… I was immediately reminded God’s promise to me in Philippians 1:6: “…be confident of this, that HE who began a good work in Drew (you) will carry it to completion.”

I then heard the quiet whisper inside me: “Drew, do you trust ME?”

See, if I am so confident that David Baldacci can finish an interwoven novel (and series of novels) better than I could ask or imagine, how much more should I be able to trust GOD, who is the author of my life? Doesn’t make the facts of the situation go away; but as I keep my trust and focus on the AUTHOR OF MY LIFE, I am empowered and enabled to walk in Peace regardless.

And all of this, in part, is due to my parents. Sincerely, I am thankful not only for parents who were convicted enough to stand for purity, but also for how God used the absence of Gilligan’s Island to birth something powerful inside of me through a book. So, get to reading and let’s allow the Author of Life to finish our part of HIS novel series!!
